Babar Azam Named Captain of Pakistan Cricket Team Until World Cup

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has chosen to maintain Babar Azam as the team's captain in light of his outstanding performance in the ODI series against New Zealand.

Until the World Cup in October, Babar Azam will continue to serve as captain. Following the existing captain's success in leading the Green Shirts to the top of the ODI rankings, the PCB will shortly make a statement in this respect, according to the sources.

Following their victory against New Zealand in the fourth ODI, Pakistan's cricket team has taken the top spot in the ICC ODI rankings for the first time since the official ranking system was formed in 2005. The squad has surpassed Australia and India to take the top spot with 113.483 rating points.

By winning the last ODI and sweeping the series, they may improve their standing. The team's captain, Babar Azam, earlier stated in an interview from March that he wanted to do well at the 2018 ICC World Cup in India.

In an interview, Babar Azam discussed how the ICC World Cup in India has captured his attention and how the squad wants to do well there.

Mickey Arthur, the director of the Pakistani squad, suggested that Babar be kept as captain till the ICC World Cup and stated his confidence in Babar's ability to lead the side to victory.
