 Supreme Court of Pakistan Calls Former PM Imran Khan's Arrest "Illegal"


After hearing Imran Khan's motion for relief, the Supreme Court harshly criticized the NAB for detaining him outside the Islamabad High Court, where he had come to participate in a matter.

The arrest of Imran Khan by Pakistan's top anti-corruption body is illegal, and he should be released immediately, the country's Supreme Court ruled today, amid violent protests by supporters of the former Prime Minister, who is facing corruption charges. Mr. Khan is being held by the National Accountability Bureau.
A three-judge bench of Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, and Justice Athar Minallah issued the order summoning Mr. Khan, 70.
